This role bridges application knowledge, infrastructure understanding, and architectural judgment to enhance supportability, resilience, and operational maturity.

The ideal candidate will guide application owners, development teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors in comprehending application hosting, integration, monitoring, recovery, and operational procedures.

Key responsibilities include evaluating application hosting environments, dependencies, and interfaces. Reviewing application supportability across operating systems, databases, middleware, and monitoring tools is crucial.

Identifying operational gaps, technical risks, and improvement opportunities is a core function. Collaborating with stakeholders to define or refine the operating model and providing specialist input for infrastructure, monitoring, resilience, and modernization discussions are also key.

This role supports managed service takeovers, assists application teams in adopting standard operating patterns, and acts as a trusted advisor. You will also contribute to critical incident reviews requiring in-depth application infrastructure knowledge.

We are looking for a candidate with significant experience in application infrastructure, operations, middleware, production engineering, or solution architecture. A strong grasp of how enterprise applications function across diverse environments, including datacenters, virtual, cloud, and container platforms, is essential.

Experience evaluating various application stacks, from legacy to modern, is required. Practical knowledge of application servers and middleware like WebSphere, Tomcat, IIS, message queueing, Java, .NET, APIs, and container platforms is necessary.
