We are seeking a skilled Application Infrastructure Management Engineer/SME to provide expert guidance on business-critical application hosting, integration, monitoring, recovery, and operations. This role bridges application knowledge with infrastructure understanding and architectural judgment to enhance supportability, resilience, and operational maturity.

The ideal candidate will possess a hybrid profile, blending application infrastructure expertise with subject matter mastery. This position is designed for professionals who understand application behavior in production, the impact of infrastructure on application stability, and can build strong relationships with application owners.

Key duties involve assessing application hosting environments, dependencies, and infrastructure components. You will review application supportability across various layers including operating systems, databases, middleware, and monitoring tools. Identifying operational gaps, technical risks, and improvement opportunities is crucial.

Collaboration is key, as you'll work with application owners, development teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors to refine operating models. Providing specialist input for monitoring, resilience, recovery, and modernization efforts is expected. You will also support managed service takeovers and assist application teams in adopting more standard and modern operating patterns. Acting as a trusted advisor and supporting critical incident reviews are integral parts of this role.

A strong background in application infrastructure, application operations, middleware, production engineering, application support, or solution architecture is required. Candidates must have a solid understanding of how enterprise applications function across datacenter, virtual, middleware, database, container, and cloud environments.

Experience evaluating diverse application stacks, from legacy to modern, is essential. Practical knowledge of application servers and middleware such as WebSphere, Tomcat, IIS, message queueing, Java, .NET, and APIs is necessary. You should be adept at operational readiness, dependency mapping, monitoring design, resilience, recovery planning, and incident analysis.

Excellent stakeholder management skills are vital for effectively communicating with application owners, developers, vendors, and infrastructure operations teams. The ability to translate technical concepts between application and infrastructure groups is paramount for success in this role.
