Shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration by driving cutting-edge TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) technology. This role offers the opportunity to develop custom silicon solutions that power Google's most demanding AI/ML applications and contribute to innovations behind products used by millions. You'll leverage your design and verification expertise, focusing on TPU architecture and its integration within AI/ML-driven systems. The AI and Infrastructure team is dedicated to redefining possibilities, empowering customers with breakthrough AI and Infrastructure capabilities at unparalleled scale, efficiency, and reliability. We are the driving force behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, enabling cutting-edge AI models and providing essential platforms for developers worldwide.
Construct full-chip emulation or FPGA prototypes for complex SoC designs, delivering them to various customer teams including software, firmware, platform, and post-silicon validation. You will be responsible for bringing up system-level emulation models, progressing through reset, boot, and bare-metal content or OS. A key aspect of this role involves influencing design and verification teams to adopt emulation-friendly model development practices. Collaborate closely with architects, designers, software engineers, and pre/post-silicon verification engineers to establish test plans, coverage goals, and reproduce failures on emulation platforms. Develop and execute comprehensive full-chip/SoC tests on Emulation platforms, while also exploring and implementing novel verification and emulation methodologies.
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required. We are looking for a minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, coding, and emulation. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with a specialization in computer architecture. Experience with EDA debug tools such as Verdi, SimVision/Indago, or GDB is highly desirable. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages like C, C++, Python, Perl, or TCL is essential. A strong understanding of SoC architecture and interfaces (e.g., AXI, DDR, PCIe) is necessary, as is familiarity with RTL to emulation/FPGA flows, including emulation test benches.
